Account & Billing

Is there a free trial?

Yes — every new account gets a 30-day free trial with full access to all features. No credit card required to start.

How much does FreelaMe cost?

Visit your Billing page to see current pricing. We offer a simple monthly subscription — no hidden fees.

Can I cancel at any time?

Yes. Cancel from Billing Settings at any time. You keep access until the end of your current billing period. No penalties.

What payment methods are accepted?

We accept all major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) via Stripe. Bank transfer is not currently supported for subscriptions.

Can I get a refund?

See our Refund Policy for full details. In most cases we honour refund requests made within 14 days of a charge.

Invoices

Can I send invoices to clients?

Yes — FreelaMe sends professional PDF invoices directly to your client's email. You can also download the PDF and send it yourself.

Can clients pay invoices online?

Yes. You can enable online payment links on invoices. Clients click the link and pay securely via Stripe. Funds go directly to your connected Stripe account.

Does FreelaMe support VAT?

Yes. You can configure your VAT number and VAT rates in Settings. Invoices display VAT amounts separately and we include a VAT Return helper to simplify filing.

Can I create credit notes?

Yes — credit notes can be issued against any paid or sent invoice from the invoice detail page.

Contracts

Can I create and send contracts?

Yes. Create reusable contract templates, customise them per project, and send them to clients for review. You can convert a signed contract directly into an invoice.

Are contracts legally binding?

FreelaMe contracts are standard written agreements. For legal enforceability, ensure both parties have agreed (e.g. via email confirmation or digital signature). We recommend consulting a solicitor for high-value contracts.

Payments & Stripe

Do I need a Stripe account?

Only if you want to accept online payments. Invoicing, contracts, and expense tracking all work without Stripe. Connect your Stripe account in Settings when you're ready.

Does FreelaMe take a cut of payments?

No. FreelaMe does not charge a percentage of your invoices. Stripe's standard processing fees apply (typically 1.5% + £0.20 for standard UK cards).

Data & Privacy

Where is my data stored?

Data is stored in Microsoft Azure data centres in the United Kingdom (UK South region).

Can I export my data?

You can export invoices and contracts as PDFs. For a full data export, contact us at hello@freela.me and we'll prepare one for you.

What happens to my data if I cancel?

Your data is kept for 30 days after account closure so you can reactivate if you change your mind. After that, personal data is deleted. Financial records are retained for 7 years as required by HMRC.
