FreelaMe ("we", "our", "us") is a SaaS platform that helps freelancers manage invoices, contracts, and payments. We are the data controller for the personal data we collect through this service.

2. What Data We Collect
We collect the following categories of personal data:
- Account data: Name, email address, password (hashed)
- Business data: Company name, address, VAT number, bank details
- Client data: Names, email addresses, and addresses of your clients that you enter into the platform
- Financial data: Invoice amounts, payment records, expense data
- Usage data: IP address, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps
- Payment data: Processed securely by Stripe — we do not store card numbers
3. How We Use Your Data
- To provide and operate the FreelaMe service
- To process payments via Stripe
- To send transactional emails (invoice notifications, receipts)
- To comply with legal obligations (e.g. tax, fraud prevention)
- To improve the platform based on usage patterns
4. Legal Basis for Processing
We process your data under the following lawful bases (UK GDPR Article 6):
- Contract: To fulfil our service agreement with you
- Legitimate interests: To improve our service and prevent fraud

5. Data Sharing
We share data only with trusted third parties necessary to operate the service:
- Stripe — payment processing
- Microsoft Azure — cloud hosting and database
- SendGrid / SMTP provider — transactional email delivery
We do not sell your data to third parties.
6. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. After account deletion, we retain financial records for 7 years to comply with HMRC requirements. Usage logs are deleted after 90 days.

- Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
- Restrict or object to processing
- Data portability
